Goodwill NNE Celebrates National Thrift Shop Day With All-Clothing Special At Gorham And Hudson Outlets

Goodwill's mascot Puffy G shops for clothes at the Goodwill Outlet on National Thrift Shop Day

This National Thrift Shop Day, Goodwill Northern New England (NNE) is celebrating sustainable fashion with an all-clothing special at the Buy The Pound Outlets in Gorham, Maine and Hudson, New Hampshire. Whether you’re refreshing your wardrobe, hunting for back-to-school outfits, or just love a good thrift find, this is your chance to shop smart, save big, and support more sustainable communities across northern New England.

Why Secondhand Matters

Every year, Goodwill NNE diverts over 50 million pounds of donated goods from local landfills. That’s not just a number — it’s a powerful step toward reducing textile waste and promoting a circular economy. Shopping secondhand helps extend the life of clothing, reduces demand for new production, and keeps perfectly wearable items out of the trash.

What to Expect at the Event

On Sunday, August 17, both outlets will be transformed into a clothing-only treasure hunt, where every pound of fashion you find supports Goodwill’s mission and the environment.

The details:

  • All clothing, all day long. The bins will be stocked exclusively with clothing: Perfect for building your fall wardrobe or scoring unique back-to-school looks.
  • Free Reusable Bags: With every Outlet purchase, shoppers will receive a free reusable bag* as a stylish and sustainable way to carry your finds.
  • Sticker Giveaway: All weekend long, Goodwill NNE stores will be handing out free thrift-themed stickers* to celebrate your love for secondhand style. Grab one at the register in any Goodwill NNE store!

Back-to-School, the Sustainable Way

Thrifting for back-to-school isn’t just budget-friendly, it’s a chance to express personal style while making eco-conscious choices. Whether you’re looking for denim, backpacks, dorm decor or statement pieces, Goodwill stores and outlets offer a constantly changing selection at unbeatable prices. The best part? Every Goodwill purchase supports workforce development initiatives that help build sustainable communities from all angles.

Shopping Goodwill isn’t just about scoring great deals, it supports job training programs, community services, and a more sustainable future. This National Thrift Shop Day, let your wardrobe reflect your values. Mark your calendars, bring your friends, and get ready to thrift by the pound — because fashion should feel good and do good!

*Free reusable bags and stickers while supplies last. Goodwill Outlets are open from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. daily and stores from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. daily.
