Workforce Services
Goodwill is more than just a thrift store. Revenue from stores funds our mission, which is to invest in people who need support achieving their work and life goals. We do this through our many programs. Goodwill NNE’s programs center around helping people find and keep great jobs. Our goal is to help bring 10,000 people into stability in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont by 2027. We are making great headway because of your support of our mission.

Workforce Solutions
Helping thousands of local people find and keep great careers
Goodwill Workforce Solutions helps adults who are unemployed or underemployed, young people who need a good start or second chance, people coming out of the criminal justice system, and more.
It takes more than skills to get and keep a great job. Goodwill Workforce Solutions recognizes each person’s unique challenges and helps them overcome each one until the participant reaches stability. Through Goodwill NNE’s work-life model, each participant is paired with a career advisor and a life navigator (a social worker position), who helps them work through each barrier to success. This Goodwill-designed model has seen unprecedented success in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.
Vocational Rehabilitation
Workforce services for people with physical or developmental challenges
These programs help people find a path to fulfilling and gainful employment, regardless of any physical or developmental challenges they face. Goodwill offers programs for adults and for high-school students.
In both adult and youth programs, participants find paid job experiences, and often long-term career placements that suit their skills and their dreams. Adults who have a disability can meet with a specialist any time. Goodwill offers Goodwill Work Readiness Bootcamp, or “Bootcamp”, which is a Vocational Rehabilitation program aimed at high-school students. Bootcamp is offered in the classroom, where students learn essential job skills before their graduation day.
Goodwill staff empower people with disabilities to achieve their career aspirations by offering an array of services, resources, and support, all aimed at removing barriers to employment and fostering self-sufficiency.
SNAP E&T
Goodwill NNE’s SNAP E&T program helps people receiving SNAP benefits find work
The program connects clients with a career advisor. Career advisors help with resumes, cover letters, interview prep, finding educational/training programs and more. Clients are also eligible for financial assistance with employment-related costs, such as work clothes and shoes, supplies or textbooks.
This program is currently offered in Maine, with hopes of expanding services in our territory. Most referrals for Goodwill’s SNAP E&T program come from Maine Department of Health and Human Services. If you’re interested in enrolling in the program, a referral is needed.
