Goodwill NNE Raises $20,000 to Support Searsmont Fire Recovery
June 25, 2026

On May 15, a devastating fire and explosion at Robbins Lumber in Searsmont, Maine deeply affected the entire community. Families, first responders, and neighbors across the region felt the impact, as the event brought sudden disruption and loss to many.
In moments like this, communities look for ways to show up for one another.
From June 7 through June 13, Goodwill Northern New England invited shoppers across Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont to do just that. Through our Round Up program, customers had the option to round up their purchases at checkout, turning small, everyday actions into meaningful support for those affected.
A Week of Collective Support
Throughout the week, thousands of customers chose to participate. Each round up may have seemed small on its own, but together they added up to something powerful.
With support from our customers and an additional contribution from us, we are proud to partner with the Maine Strong Memorial Foundation to deliver $20,000 to support individuals, families, and first responders impacted by the Searsmont tragedy.
Funds raised through this effort will help ensure that assistance reaches those who need it most as the community continues to recover.
A Shared Commitment to Community
“We are incredibly grateful for the way our customers and communities showed up,” said Tripp Harrison, President and CEO of Goodwill NNE. “In the face of a tragedy like this, people look for ways to help, and this was a simple but meaningful way to do that. This effort reflects the compassion and commitment we see across our region every day.”
While our Round Up program typically supports our workforce services and access to employment, this effort reflects something broader. It is a reminder that strong communities are built through care, connection, and a willingness to support one another when it matters most.
Thank You for Making a Difference
We are grateful to every customer, team member, and community partner who helped make this effort possible. Your support demonstrates what is possible when people come together with a shared purpose.
Together, we can continue to make a meaningful difference for our neighbors when they need it most.
