Programs and Services
Goodwill is more than just a thrift store. Revenue from stores funds our mission, which is to invest in people who need support achieving their work and life goals. We do this through our many programs. Goodwill NNE’s programs center around healthcare, and helping people find and keep great jobs.
Goodwill’s Workforce Services
Helping thousands of local people find and keep great careers
Goodwill’s Workforce Services help adults who are unemployed or underemployed, young people who need a good start or second chance, people coming out of the criminal justice system, and more. We work with each person on their career and life goals using our Job Connection Model. This is a holistic approach that marries the best practices of social work with workforce development to help a person overcome any barriers between them and personal stability. Each participant has a team guiding and encouraging them on this path to stability. People who work with Goodwill’s workforce staff find great jobs at local businesses throughout Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.
Employee Life Navigation for Goodwill Employees
For our own employees, we offer the unique service of Employee Life Navigation. We know people face challenges outside of work. Our team of certified counselors provides confidential support to our employees. Employees get help for issues including: career support, personal counseling, conflict management, stress and mental health resources, access to rental or food assistance and more. All employees have free access to their Employee Life Navigator – and while they can meet them anytime anywhere, employees can access their Employee Life Navigator even while they’re on the clock, making this service more accessible.
AmeriCorps programs in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont
Goodwill manages AmeriCorps programs that strengthen communities in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont by placing volunteers in local nonprofits, municipalities, and schools. These AmeriCorps members support the long-term health of communities through their selfless commitment.
Healthcare services for adults with a disability or brain injury
Goodwill’s healthcare programs support people with disabilities or an acquired brain injury. Our brain injury clinics, staffed group homes, and active community support services are some of the ways we help people find personal stability and independence in our community.
Goodwill NeuroRehab brain injury clinics
Goodwill NeuroRehab provides comprehensive services to people who survived an acquired brain injury. Our healthcare staff help people get back to a full and stable life after a brain injury such as a stroke, car accident or concussion. Because every brain injury is different, our staff tailor the therapeutic treatments to each person’s needs – that might include occupational therapy, physical therapy, and more. We work with each person on their goals, to guide them to independence and stability.
Staffed group homes for adults with disabilities
In Maine, Goodwill NNE offers 16 comfortable, safe homes for adults with disabilities. These homes are staffed 24 hours a day, every day by dedicated Direct Support Professionals.
LifeWorks Active Community Supports
We believe in offering adults with disabilities or deafness the opportunity to live and work as independently as possible in their communities. LifeWorks Active Community Supports provides skills training in independent living, work readiness, relationship building, self-advocacy and health to all participants.
Care coordination
We help participants who have a brain injury (or other related conditions) plan for the life they want to live. We secure funding and engage the community to find natural supports, housing, employment, and more. We development a Person Centered Care Plan with each participant and offer ongoing support, empowering participants to make the best decisions for them. This includes monitoring of the health, welfare and safety of the participant.
Assistive Technology Services
Goodwill’s Assistive Technology Services help individuals with disabilities who want to increase their functional ability, safety and overall independence. Our professional staff includes speech language pathologists, occupational therapists, and assistive technology certified professionals who will work with you, your family and your team to identify your assistive technology needs and connect you with the best options and resources for reaching your goals. Assistive technology is any equipment or product system, whether acquired commercially off the shelf, modified or customized that is used to increase, maintain or improve functional capabilities.
MS Case Management Services
To help people with multiple sclerosis (MS) in Maine and New Hampshire live active, independent lives, Goodwill is a contracted partner with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The MS Society makes referrals to Goodwill when there is a need for case management service. MS Case Management Services Links is a short-term support program. Assessment for personalized case management through the MS Edward M. Dowd Personal Advocate Program are provided by Goodwill. Our Case Manager arranges appropriate care, assists with applications, and follows up with providers to meet your family’s needs. The program is free thanks to funding from the MS Society.
Our goal is to help bring 10,000 people into stability in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont by 2027. We are making great headway because of your support of our mission.
