The Bryant Pond 4-H Camp and Learning Center campus is nestled on the shores of Lake Christopher in Bryant Pond, Maine, with 160 acres of forest and mountain trails leading to remote campsites, streams, ponds, wetlands, and a mountain summit. The mission of the University of Maine 4-H Center at Bryant Pond is to encourage and inspire people of all ages to lead sustainable lives through affordable, experiential learning. We model leadership and life skills development, community collaboration, self-reliance, wellness, and stewardship for our natural world. Goodwill AmeriCorps and the Rural Youth Institute (RYI) are partnering to launch a dynamic, field-based training program for AmeriCorps members passionate about youth development. This initiative leverages RYI’s Aspiration Incubator mentoring model and the Youth Development by Design framework, equipping participants with essential skills to support rural students’ aspirations. Unlike traditional, one-size-fits-all programs, this Fellowship emphasizes personalized strategies and strong relationships through 9 core concepts. Members will engage in Mentoring, Experiential Learning, Social and Emotional Development, and College, Career, and Life Readiness, earning certification in Youth Development by Design. During the year-long Fellowship, members will utilize the knowledge gained from the training to closely collaborate with a cohort of young people in grades 7-12 who need Tier 2 prevention support, fostering engagement through cohort activities and experiential learning, while guiding them in setting and achieving academic and life goals. The program also utilizes the PEAR Clover Model to enhance students’ social and emotional growth. This unique opportunity is perfect for those passionate about a career in youth work—apply now for this exciting experiential training program!

Public Health AmeriCorps members act as professional liaisons between the 4-H Center and schools, area families, students, and community networks to cultivate, establish, and leverage meaningful relationships and collaborations. Members will serve as mentors to cohorts of 10-14 students who meet monthly to plan and execute multi-day trips. This position requires members to work flexible hours that allow for out-of-school, overnight travel. Members will work directly with students to support academic and social-emotional success during the school day and provide after-school and weekend experiences around adventure and leadership, cultural exchange, community engagement, sparks, and future aspirations. In addition, members will be asked to collaboratively and continually evaluate and update policies and procedures around youth development, expedition policy, and risk management as part of the NorthStar team. Position requires driving of 12-passenger vans.
